Where did my files to go?

Hello,

I allowed the Windows Update Assistant to do the latest update - BIG MISTAKE. It deleted my pictures, start page, favorites, bookmarks, wiped out my restore points, and the list goes on and on. It was 'supposed' to be easy to roll everything back, I can not figure out how to get my stuff back.
